September 14, 2016

The bridge that carries Route 124 over Cabin Creek in Lower Windsor Township, York County, will be closed to all traffic starting Monday, September 19 for a construction project to replace the bridge. Route 124 is also known locally as Abels Road. The bridge, which was originally built in 1927, is currently classified as structurally deficient.

About 2,200 vehicles cross this bridge on a daily basis. Motorists will be detoured around the bridge closure by way of Route 624 (Long Level Road), Route 462 (Lincoln Highway), Cabin Creek Road (State Route 2011) and Miller Spring Road (SR 2025). The bridge should reopen to traffic in November.

The Route 124 bridge is designated on the website as JV-296. JV stands for joint venture.
