Construction for a Route 44 (Steer Brook Road) bridge in Hebron Township, Potter County, is scheduled to begin next month as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. Replacement of this bridge will provide area motorists with a new, modern structure and safer, more efficient travel.
The bridge spans the South Branch of Oswayo Creek, about a mile southeast of the village of Hebron Center. It carries an average of almost 1,500 vehicles daily.
Construction is expected to begin during the week of May 8 and be complete in early August. During this time, an alternating traffic pattern will be controlled by temporary traffic signals.
In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-81 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
