The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project continues in Somerset County with the replacement of the Route 2018 (Owl Hollow Road) bridge, which spans Buffalo Creek in Brothersvalley Township. Replacing the bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from Somerset County’s structurally deficient list.
Construction is expected to begin September 14 and will be completed in late November. During this time, drivers will utilize a 10.5-mile detour that will follow Route 219, Route 653 and Route 2031 (Garret Shortcut Road). The contractor, Cottles Asphalt Maintenance of Bedford, PA will be constructing the bridge
In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-355 out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
