April 16, 2018
The start of a construction project to replace the Route 115 (Bear Creek Boulevard) bridge, spanning Little Shades Creek in Bear Creek Township, Luzerne County, has been rescheduled. It was previously scheduled to begin during the week of April 16, as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.
The bridge replacement project is now scheduled to begin during the week of May 2. Motorists will use a temporary bridge for travel around the work zone during construction. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area. The new bridge is anticipated to be complete in August.
In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may still change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-140 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
