March 20, 2017
The Stony Hill Road bridge, spanning Big Beaver Creek in Eden Township in Lancaster County, has been postponed. It was previously scheduled to begin on Monday, March 20.
Construction is now expected to begin on Wednesday, March 22 and be complete in mid-June.
Stony Hill Road is officially designated as State Route 2020. Replacement of this bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from Lancaster County’s structurally deficient bridge list.
The bridge will be closed for construction and drivers will be directed around the bridge closure on a detour along Carmargo Road (SR 2019) and Stone Road.
In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-279 and is one out of 559 bridges being replaced statewide under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
