Construction for the PA 33
South bridge, spanning US 22 in Bethlehem Township, Northampton County, continues as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.
A nighttime detour is scheduled on Thursday, December 7, and Monday, December 11, from 10.30 p.m. to 5.30 a.m. for demolition work. During this time, traffic traveling from US 22 east will be detoured on PA 33 south to William Penn Highway back to PA 33 north to US 22.
Motorists should also be prepared for intermittent lanes closures on PA 33 southbound on Wednesday, December 13, from 8:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. between the Hecktown Road exit and William Penn Highway.
The project is scheduled to be completed in spring 2018. Schedules are subject to change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-198 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
