Basis of Beyond Bridges:

Walsh/Granite JV is committed to investing in the communities where we work and live. Through the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project, we’re working to better the future of Pennsylvania communities by replacing bridges designed to last 100 years -- but we want to work “Beyond Bridges.” While working in various communities, we’ve identified local charitable causes that we would like to support.

Each month, Walsh/Granite JV will feature a Pennsylvania charitable organization on our project website. This will give project team members the opportunity to get involved by donating their times and skills or by giving a monetary donation. Of course, non-project team members are welcome and encouraged to join the effort as well.

Organization We are Currently Supporting:

Susan G. Komen Pittsburgh is a local, Pittsburgh-based non-profit breast cancer organization serving 34-counties in western and central Pennsylvania by funding community-based breast health education, screening, and treatment programs, as well as contributing to Komen national breast cancer research initiatives. Our mission is to save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer. Over the past twenty-five years, Komen Pittsburgh has grown in size, impact, and service; having evolved from an annual Race for the Cure into a year-round, comprehensive nonprofit organization. In those twenty-five years, we have granted over $20.8 million to meet local community breast health needs and nearly $8 million to national breast cancer research; seventy-five percent of funds raised remain local, the remaining twenty-five percent is dedicated to national breast cancer research. The work of Komen Pittsburgh is a continual effort to save lives and end breast cancer forever, and with the support of our community partnerships, sponsors, vendors, friends and family, we just announced over $530,000 in grants beginning July 1, 2017 to organizations right here in our communities.
