Bridge Street, crossing over Pocono Creek in Stroud Township, Monroe County, will be closed in both directions for nighttime work in early January, as work continues on the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.
A full closure of the bridge will be implemented from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2017. Motorists will be detoured to US 209 and PA 611. Construction crews will be working on erecting beams during nighttime work. After completing the nighttime work, a single lane of traffic will reopen northbound, with traffic detoured southbound to PA 611 and US 209.
In the event of unforeseen construction activities or unfavorable weather this schedule may change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-190 and is one of 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project. Replacement work for this bridge is being performed by Walsh Construction II. The bridge should be fully complete in June,
The Rapid Bridge Replacement Project is a public-private partnership (P3) between PennDOT and Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners (PWKP), under which PWKP will finance, design, replace, and maintain the bridges for 25 years. The P3 approach will allow PennDOT to replace the bridges more quickly while achieving significant savings and minimizing impact on motorists.
