A traffic pattern switch for phase one construction on the bridge carrying Route 30 (York Road) over Rock Creek in Gettysburg Borough and Straban Township, Adams County, is scheduled for Monday, August 13, as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.
Construction crews started to prepare for work to replace the 80-year-old bridge this week. When the new traffic pattern begins on August 13, motorists will shift to one lane of traffic in each direction through the work zone. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns will occur. The new bridge should be complete by the end of 2018.
In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-220 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
