August 12, 2018

The bridge carrying Route 696 (Turnpike Road) over Newburg Creek in Hopewell Township, Cumberland County, is now closed for full replacement, as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.

While the bridge is closed, vehicular traffic will be directed to follow a detour along Route 997 (Enola Road), Three Square Hollow Road (State Route 4005) and Route 641 (Newburg Road). Tractor-trailers will follow a designated truck detour along Route 997 (Enola Road) and Route 641 (Newburg Road). The new bridge should be open in late August.
