July 15, 2016

The Rapid Bridge Replacement project team is reminding area residents and motorists that construction will begin this month to replace the Cedar Springs Road Bridge in Walker Township as part of the Department’s public-private partnership to replace 558 bridges. Replacing this 79-year-old bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from Juniata County’s structurally deficient list.

The Route 2006 (Cedar Springs Road) bridge (JV 55) spans Doe Run near the village of Van Wert. The bridge is scheduled to close in late July. During construction, drivers will use a detour that includes Route 2009 (Freed Road), Route 3002 (William Penn Highway), and Route 2007 (Locust Run). Work is expected to be complete in August.

In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.
