Motorists should expect single left lane closures on PA 33 southbound later week as construction begins to wrap up for replacement of the bridge carrying PA 33 South over US 22 in Bethlehem Township, Northampton County.
A single left lane closure on PA 33 South, between Hecktown Road and William Penn Highway, had been scheduled to begin today as construction crews place the new concrete deck. However, work has now been rescheduled to take place on Thursday, April 26, and Friday, April 27 from 8.30 AM to 4.30PM, then again on Monday, May 1 from 8.30 AM to 4.30 PM.
The bridge, which is part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project, is scheduled to be completed in May. When the PA 33
South bridge is complete, work will begin on the bridge carrying PA 33 North over US 22 in Bethlehem Township.
Schedules are subject to change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-198 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
