December 08, 2017

The bridge carrying Route 233 (Doubling Gap Road) over Conodoquinet Creek in North Newton and Lower Mifflin Townships, Cumberland County, is scheduled to close on Monday, December 18, and Tuesday, December 19, from 6:00 p.m. to 6 a.m. for beam placement.

During the closure, motorists will be detoured by way of Route 944, Blosserville Road (State Route 4021), and Route 641. After the overnight work, the bridge will reopen, with one lane of alternating traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because slowdowns will occur during construction.

Work began in late September 2017 to replace the bridge, as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.   Replacement work is anticipated to be complete in April 2018.
