The overnight closure for the bridge carrying Route 233 (Doubling Gap Road) over Conodoquinet Creek in North Newton and Lower Mifflin Townships, Cumberland County, scheduled on Tuesday, December 19, from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. has been cancelled.  The bridge was closed overnight on Monday, December 18, for beam placement work.  Work was expected to last two nights, but crews expedited the work and completed the beam erection on Tuesday morning.

The bridge is now reopen, with one lane of alternating traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals.   Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because slowdowns will occur during construction.

Motorists should expect an overnight closure in February 2018 for beam erection work on the other side of the new bridge.  The full replacement of the bridge is anticipated to be complete in spring 2018.
