The Club House Drive (PA 314) Bridge over Swiftwater Creek in Paradise Township, in Monroe County, reopened today (JV181). The bridge was closed for reconstruction in early August and reopened to traffic this afternoon. The work was performed by Walsh Construction, Inc.

There are a number of other bridges in the eastern part of the state to have opened recently (or will shortly). They include:

  • Winterdale Road (SR 4014) Bridge Over Balls Creek in Scott Township, Wayne County. The bridge was closed for reconstruction in mid-August and reopened to traffic the afternoon of Friday, November 20. The work was performed by Minichi, Inc. (JV161).
  • Woodtown Road (SR 1007) crossing over Twin Lakes Creek in Shohola Township, Pike County. The bridge was closed for reconstruction in early July and reopened to traffic the afternoon of Monday, November 23. The work was performed by Walsh Construction, Inc. (JV142).
  • Whippoorhill Hollow Road (SR 1001) crossing over Outlet Lake Carey in Tunkhannock Township, Wyoming County. The bridge was closed for reconstruction in late August and will reopen to traffic the afternoon of Friday, November 27. The work was performed by Clearwater Construction, Inc. (JV166).

It's important to note that while the structures have reopened to traffic, final paving will take place next spring when a layer of a special polyester concrete will be placed on the bridge deck. This overlay will resist pothole formation and reduce bridge maintenance costs. That material can only be applied in temperatures above 50 degrees and after the deck has cured for at least 30 days. Drivers may notice a slight bump as they cross the bridge until that final step is completed.
