Construction for a Route 120 (Brusselles Street) bridge in the City of Saint Marys, Elk County, is part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. Replacement of this bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from Elk County’s structurally deficient bridge list.
Pre-construction activities are taking place and will continue in preparation to initiate the long-term traffic control needed for construction of the new bridge. During pre-construction activities, motorists may encounter short-term flagging operations.
During the construction phase, motorists will encounter temporary traffic signals that will enforce an alternating traffic pattern through the work zone. The week of September 11 is the anticipated signal activation.
Motorists are reminded to obey work zone signing and to slow down in work zones.
In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-48 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
