The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project continues in Westmoreland County with the start of construction on a bridge beginning in July.
The SR 31 bridge over Jacobs Creek in Mount Pleasant Township (JV-541) is scheduled to start July 29. The bridge will be built one-half at a time allowing one lane of alternating traffic controlled by a traffic signal to remain open throughout the project. Construction of the bridge will take approximately eight months to complete. The bridge was built in 1924 and averages 7,984 vehicles a day.
