The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project begins in Northumberland County in September with the reconstruction of a bridge in Rockefeller Township. Replacing the bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from Northumberland County’s structurally deficient list.
The state-owned bridge is located on Route 4026 (Irish Valley Road), spanning Little Shamokin Creek. Construction is expected to begin during the week of September 5 and be complete in November. During this time, drivers will be detoured using Route 890 and Route 4024 (Cherry Street) while the new bridge is replaced.
In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.
