Construction for the Route 233 (Rocky Mountain Road) bridge, spanning Carbaugh Run in Greene Township, Franklin County, is scheduled to begin the week of January 15 as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. The new bridge should be finished and open to traffic by late May.
During the bridge closing, all traffic will follow a short detour from Route 233 to a temporary road on Rocky Mountain Road (DCNR access) to Route 30. A temporary traffic signal will be installed at the intersection of Route 30 (Lincoln Highway) and Route 233 (Rocky Mountain Road and Pine Grove Road) to assist with the movement of traffic.
In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-248 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
