Mount Tabor Road bridge, spanning Opossum Creek in Menallen Township, Adams County, is scheduled to close on June 12 as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. Replacement of this bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from Adams County’s structurally deficient bridge list. Mount Tabor Road is officially designated as State Route 4005.
When the bridge closes on June 12, drivers will be directed to follow a detour along Route 34 (Carlisle Road), Gablers Road (Route 4003), and Route 4008. The new bridge should open to traffic in late August.
In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-233 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
