Construction
for a Route 655 bridge in Union Township, Mifflin County is scheduled to begin this month as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. The bridge spans Frog Hollow Run near the village of Kishacoquillas.
Construction of a second Route 655 bridge spanning Alexander Run (JV-75), also near Kishacoquillas, will be built in spring 2018. Replacement of the bridges will allow PennDOT to remove them from Mifflin County’s structurally deficient bridge list.
Construction on the Frog Hollow Run bridge is expected to begin during the week of August 14 and be complete in early November. During construction, an alternating traffic pattern will be controlled by temporary traffic signals at both bridge sites. In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, these schedules may change.
These bridges are referred to as JV-74 and JV-75. They are two of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
