Construction for the Route 1013 (Saxonburg Boulevard) bridge, spanning Little Pine Creek in O’Hara Township, is scheduled to begin as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. Replacement of the bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from Allegheny County’s structurally deficient list.
Construction is expected to begin on September 29 and be complete by late November. During this time, drivers will be directed to follow a detour along Route 1010 (Harts Run Road) and Route 8 (William Flynn Highway).
The bridge was built in 1955 and averages 9,417 vehicles a day.
This bridge is referred to as JV-415 out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
