Construction for the PA 33
South bridge, spanning US 22 in Bethlehem Township, Northampton County, continues as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.
A nighttime detour is scheduled on Monday, December 18 from 10.30 p.m. to 5.30 a.m. for crane removal. During this time, traffic traveling from US 22 east will be detoured on PA 33 south to William Penn Highway back to PA 33 north to US 22. Motorists should also expect single lane closures of PA 33 southbound on Monday, December 18 and Wednesday, December 20 from 10.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.
The bridge project is scheduled to be completed in spring 2018.

This bridge is referred to as JV-198 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
