The Route 168 (Tuscarawas Road) bridge, which spans Painters Run in South Beaver Township, Beaver County, that’s been under construction as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Rapid Bridge Replacement Project, is complete and open to traffic. Replacement of the bridge allows PennDOT to remove it from Beaver County’s structurally deficient bridge list.
The bridge reopened to traffic on Thursday, May 24. Replacement work was performed by Walsh II Construction of Pittsburgh, PA.
The new crossing is longer and wider than the one it replaced and is designed with a 100-year lifespan.
This bridge is referred to as JV-452 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
