The Route 136 (Rainbow Run Road) bridge, which spans a tributary to Monongahela River in
Forward Township, Allegheny County, that’s been under construction as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Rapid Bridge Replacement Project, is complete and open to traffic. Replacement of the bridge allows PennDOT to remove it from Allegheny County’s structurally deficient bridge list.
The bridge reopened to traffic on Thursday, October 19. Replacement work was performed by Swank Construction Company, LLC of New Kensington, PA.
The new crossing is longer and wider than the one it replaced and is designed with a 100-year lifespan.
This bridge is referred to as JV-402 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
