Harrisburg, PA – Due to wet and wintry conditions, repair work for the bridge carrying Speedwell Forge Road (State Route 1037) over Hammer Creek in Elizabeth Township, Lancaster County, will continue to the end of next week. Motorists should anticipate the bridge being reduced to one lane of traffic from 7 AM to 7 PM from Tuesday, January 22, to Friday, January 25, for final repair work and site clean-up. This bridge was replaced in November 2016 as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.
During the intermittent lane closures, traffic will alternate in each direction under flagging operations.
In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may still change.
This bridge is referred to as JV-268 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.
The Rapid Bridge Replacement Project is a public-private partnership (P3) between PennDOT and Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners (PWKP), under which PWKP will finance, design, replace, and maintain the bridges for 25 years.
